Events
Events is EVE Mercator's in-universe news feed, presented as a weekly editorial digest under the CHRONICLE byline. It is fiction set in the world of EVE Online: the feed is styled as an interstellar publication with field correspondents, a running ticker (WIRE) and a CHRONICLE byline — it is not real-world news and not an official channel. An edition publishes once a week, early Monday morning, and gathers in one place the in-game shifts that move the market: patches and mechanics changes, wars and sovereignty, scandals and major market events. Stories are sorted into categories — Wars, Sov, Market, Patches, Lore, Scandals — and filtered right in the feed.
For a trader, CHRONICLE is the context the numbers don't show. The Market terminal gives net margin, spread, turnover and fair value (VWAP over region-wide ESI history, up to 90 days), but it doesn't explain why a line suddenly came alive. Events supplies the reason: a patch that cut the sales tax (for instance the March 2025 patch that trimmed it from 8% to 7.5% at Accounting 0), a demand spike from a war along a route between hubs, a change touching production or logistics. Every story carries a Market trail — a link to specific items and hubs — so you can check the news against the numbers right away instead of taking it on faith.
The feed is written for both the newcomer and the returning veteran. For a newcomer it explains what is going on in the world and why prices behave the way they do; for someone back after a break it rebuilds the picture fast: what changed in the fee mechanics (sales tax ~3.4% at Accounting V, broker ~1.5% at Broker Relations V, a re-list discount up to 80% at Advanced Broker Relations V), where the wars are, and which lines have become busy across the five hubs — Jita IV-Moon 4, Amarr, Dodixie, Rens, Hek. CHRONICLE gives no trade signals and doesn't replace analysis — it explains the backdrop, and the decisions stay with you and the rest of Mercator's screens.
